Indiana Cadet Greco results: There was the good–excellent runs by Jared McKinley, Grant Anglemyer, Kirk Johnson, and 7th place finisher Sean Mappes. There was the bad–one total medal and really only 2 close calls. And there was the ugly–8 “0 fer 2 BBQs”. To be fair, Indiana isn’t known as a Greco powerhouse, so the results weren’t altogether surprising. Mappes, McKinley and Johnson all made their presence felt, winning a combined 14 matches against some pretty stout competition. Hopefully, a lot of these young men can use this valuable experience as a springboard for the coming season and next summer’s Fargo expedition. A hearty congratulations to Sean Mappes, for his fine placment in a stacked weight class.

Notes: 2009 ISWA Cadet state Greco champ @ 112. Beat Eric Friedman (#9 @ 103 WUSA Soph/FR) of MD, a 2X Cadet FS AA who finished 5th in 09 and 7th in 08. Friedman also finished in 2nd at Fila Cadet FS 2008. McKinley beat OH’s Calvin Campbell in 2 periods. Campbell, a Level 2 participant according to Trackwrestling, has placed well in a past USAW national event (Trackwrestling had his classification, but not the event he placed in). McKinley lost a close match to eventual 8th place finisher Gunnar Wolfensperger of IA. McKinley was denied AA status with a loss to FL stud and 5th place finisher Earl Hall, a FL-3A State champ @ 103 and Soph Nats Champion @ 103.
Cadet-119 – J.R. Wallis (Princeton), 0-2. Opponents’ W/L 11-2.
